1. Who We Are
Catch Karma is operated by DJ Advisory ("we," "us," "our"), based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. You can reach us at info@catchkarma.co.
2. What This Policy Covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you participate in Catch Karma — a community kindness game that uses SMS messaging to deliver kindness missions and run an end-of-pilot prize draw.
3. Information We Collect
- Mobile phone number. Provided when you text KARMA to our number to opt in.
- SMS message content. Messages you send us and that we send you, including any text, names, or photos you submit as proof of mission completion.
- Mission completion data. Which missions you’ve completed and timestamps.
- Technical data. Standard log data such as message timestamps and delivery information from our SMS provider (Twilio).
We do not collect your name, email address, or location unless you choose to provide it. We do not collect financial or payment information.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To send you kindness missions and confirmations
- To track your mission completions for the end-of-pilot prize draw
- To respond to your messages and provide support
- To contact prize draw winners and arrange prize delivery
- To select and publicly share photos, messages, and stories you submit as part of program storytelling (without publishing your phone number)
- To improve the program based on aggregate participation patterns
- To comply with legal obligations
5. How We Share Your Information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted.
We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. Twilio provides our SMS infrastructure and processes messages on our behalf under its own privacy and security terms.
- Prize sponsors. If you win a prize, we share with the relevant sponsor only what is needed to fulfill it (typically a name and delivery address you provide). We do not share your phone number or mission history with prize sponsors.
- Public storytelling. Photos, messages, and stories you submit as proof of mission completion may be selected by us and shared publicly on Catch Karma’s social media accounts, the catchkarma.co website, and program materials. We do not publish your phone number. See Section 8 of our Terms of Service for the license you grant when you submit content.
- Legal compliance. If required by law, court order, or to protect rights, property, and safety.
6. Your Choices
- Opt out anytime. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. We will confirm your opt-out and stop messaging you.
- Get help. Reply HELP for support information.
- Withdraw a submission. If you no longer want a submitted photo or story to be shared publicly, email info@catchkarma.co and we will remove it from active Catch Karma channels within a reasonable timeframe.
- Access or delete your data. Email info@catchkarma.co to request a copy of your data or to have it deleted.
7. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as the pilot is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for prize fulfillment, program evaluation, and reporting to community partners. If you opt out, we retain only what is necessary to honor your opt-out preference and meet legal obligations.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using established service providers and limiting internal access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize risk.
9. Children
Catch Karma is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it. Participants between 13 and 17 should review these terms with a parent or guardian before submitting photos.
10. Canadian Privacy Rights
If you are in Canada, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to access your personal information and request corrections. Contact us at info@catchkarma.co to exercise these rights.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the program evolves. Material changes will be communicated via SMS or posted at catchkarma.co. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
